Mission and Process

The mission of the CEC is to amplify the purpose, support the work, and expand the reach of聽AV福利社鈥檚 Diversity, Inclusion and Equity (DI&E) strategic plan鈥攚ith the intent to model a community of practice on AV福利社鈥檚 campus.

Goals and Process

Amplify the Purpose of the DI&E Plan

  • Ensure transparency and accountability between unit-specific DI&E groups and the Vice President for Equity and Community (VPEC)鈥攖hrough regular communication, open invitation to CEC meetings and CEC presence at campus activities and programs.
  • Offer strategic advice and recommendations on matters of DI&E to the VPEC and unit-specific DI&E groups.
  • Share resources that highlight the significance of embracing diverse perspectives in all forms while fostering open and honest dialogue about DI&E.
  • Communicate successes and accomplishments in DI&E with the campus community and beyond.

Support the Work

  • Inventory DI&E initiatives and projects occurring across campus and the local community.
  • Consult with the VPEC and unit-specific groups on DI&E initiatives with intentionality.
  • Encourage people to share their experiences, perspectives, and concerns, and center those from underrepresented groups.
  • Participate in awareness-building and educational activities on and off campus.

Expand its Reach

  • Provide opportunities to address the concerns and feedback voiced by members of the community.
  • Promote the mechanisms associated with DI&E projects, interventions, assessments, and policies.
  • Advocate for diverse representation across campus and the visibility of underrepresented voices.
  • Recognize individual colleagues dedicated to the work of DI&E on campus.
